Music Review: Halkaa (Hindi)
Composer(s): Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy

Following Raazi and Soorma, music trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's score for Halkaa is a bit of hit and miss. There is some nifty work in the arrangements, especially in Halkaa Ho Ja Re and the synth-coated folk-rap fusion Morni, but the tunes themselves are by-and-large unexciting and flat. The folky melody Bandeya is good, but the blandness that pervades it is almost inescapable. It is then left to Shankar Mahadevan, whose vocal heavylifting of Khushbuyein works wonders for the poignant composition. But for the last song, Halkaa is a vapid affair.
