There is no two ways about it: Ishq Di Baajiyaan is a melodic stunner. And in Diljit Dosanjh's effective singing and SEL's folky arrangements, the gorgeous melody hits all the right notes. Shankar Mahadevan aces the chill-inducing Soorma Anthem like only he can, the motivational song tremendously gaining from a thumping percussion that complements it beautifully. In Shehnaz Akhtar and Hemant Brijwasi's soulful rendition, Pardesiya makes for a serene, hymnal listen, while Good Man Di Laaltain and Flicker Singh, despite their catchy beats and lively vocals from the singers involved, stick to tried-and-tested Punjabi-folk sounds that fail to rise beyond the ordinary. Bunty Our Babli, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Kill Dil and now Soorma, the combination of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and director Shaad Ali continues to yield impressive results.

Update: The talented Shashaa Tirupati lends her voice to Ishq Di Baajiyaan in its reprise version, in addition to giving the tune a simple, acoustic makeover that suits it very well. Have it a go here.
