Music Review: Gold (Hindi)

Gold brings together Arko, Sachin-Jigar and the man of the hour Tanishk Bagchi, but the result is a medley of inspirational anthems and romantic ballads that never diverge from the middle of the road. Surprisingly it's Tanishk who commands your attention with Monobina (named after the character played by Mouni Roy in the movie), a whimsical retro number sung with verve by Yasser Desai, Shashaa Tirupati, Monali Thakur and Farhad Bhiwandiwala. Sachin-Jigar-composed Jaaga Hindustan is another bright spot, with Divya Kumar's power-packed rendition working in favour of the mighty engaging patriotic tune. Gold, for all its themes about winning the hockey gold, ultimately never soars.
