Listen: Animal Collective's "Hair Cutter"

After dropping their tenth studio album Painting With in 2016 and two EP's The Painters and Meeting of the Waters, the latter of which was recorded live on location in the Amazon Rainforest, experimental pop outfit Animal Collective is finally getting ready to share the results of a nearly decade-long collaboration with Coral Morphologic, a marine biologist-and-musician duo who are well-known for their pioneering work in coral macro-videography. Called Tangerine Reef, the new audiovisual album "visual tone poem," according to the band's statement, is to commemorate the 2018 International Year of the Reef, while Hair Cutter, the first song off the album, is positively ambient, as is the stunning music video which features undersea time-lapse images of surreal aquascapes captured by the visionary multimedia studio.
