For someone who has been A. R. Rahman's student at KM Music Conservatory, it is not in the least surprising that engineer-turned-musician Prashanth R. Vihari sure knows a thing or two about keeping listeners engaged with an eclectic mix of sounds. If Mental Madhilo was an appetiser, Chi La Sow is more like the main course, dishing out a refreshing musical fare that genre hops with effortless ease. The title song works exceedingly well as an electric multi-genre mishmash, propped superbly by Diwakar, Chinmayi Sripada and Pranav Chaganty on the vocals, while Solo Solo captures the euphoria of bachelorhood with a lively folk-synth base that's neatly accentuated by Prashanth R. Vihari, Diwakar and Naresh Iyer's singing. Kaala Bhairava and Ernest Abraham breeze through the soft-rock guitary tune of Down Down, and in Varshinche, the grand strings-laden melody gains immensely from Abhijit Rao and Ravi Prakash Chodimalla's rendition. The soundtrack's easy highlight is Mellaga Mellaga, a sublime melody laid over a stunning fabric of orchestral strings, so calming and flawlessly delivered by Chinmayi (whose actor-husband Rahul Ravindran also happens to the movie's director). Prashanth R. Vihari impresses with a mighty appealing score in Chi La Sow.
