Listen: Ariana Grande's "Sweetener"

In the two years since Ariana Grande released Dangerous Woman, she bore witness to a horrific terrorist attack during her Manchester leg of the tour, which left 22 dead and 500 injured. She has also since then exited a "toxic" relationship with Mac Miller (who not long ago released his own breakup album) and gotten engaged to SNL actor Pete Davidson after mere few weeks of dating. If all of these rollercoaster upheavals doesn't indicate it's time for some Sweetener to push away those awful memories for something new, something exciting, I don't know what else will. The songs too occupy a similar headspace, like a sugar rush, but without the overdose, yet flitting from one weird experimental pop soundscape to another immaculately put together by Pharrell Williams and Max Martin. It's by turns catchy, fresh, silky smooth and infectiously intoxicating (R.E.M, breathin, better off and goodnight n go are so good!). You can give it an earful right below -
