Heavy Rotation: Arrol Corelli, Gopi Sundar, M. Jayachandran & Sricharan Pakala

Catching up on the steady stream of new releases in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam...

Mayakkuraane (Annanukku Jey) - In his first full-fledged film outing, Arul Murugan, better known as Arrol Corelli, dishes out a quirky fare, with the jazzy melody being the soundtrack's easy highlight. And what singing by Andrea Jeremiah!

Sakhiya (Goodachari) - Cheliya-hitmaker Sricharan Pakala wows with Sakhiya, a lilting melody with subdued electropop undertones that harkens back to Ee Kshanam from Kshanam. That violin interlude is a masterstroke!

Alle Alle, Madhuvilum Madhuramai (Premasoothram) - Not sure how I missed this Gopi Sundar soundtrack when it came out back in May, but better late than never. Ramsi Ahamad delivers well the pleasant folky melody Alle Alle, while it's Vijay Yesudas who takes the lilting Madhuvilum... to soaring heights with his top-notch rendition.

Neela Neela Mizhikalo, Marayatholi Kannal, Kaattil Ee Jaalakam, Oru Parvayil (Ente Mezhuthiri Athazhangal) - Another May release that I failed to notice, but what surprised me the most is the fact that the whole album features just one singer, Vijay Yesudas, who does an awesome job singing M. Jayachandran's ethereal tunes. Melodious is an understatement!
