Listen: Niladri Kumar's "Tum" (Hindi)

Noted sitar and fusion exponent Niladri Kumar made his composing debut with the excellent Niruttara, but after two years of radio silence (in films), the man has made a return, this time in Bollywood, with Laila Majnu, where he is seen collaborating with Joi Barua and Alif, crafting some of the most dreamy tunes (Aahista, Sarphiri) I have heard this year. But the soundtrack's undoubted pièce de résistance is Tum, an other-worldly slow-burn melody backed by a beautiful-sounding Atif Aslam (and Javed Ali in a second version) that makes for a calming listen.
