Listen: Tame Impala x Theophilus London's "Only You" & "Whiplash" (Updated)

Tame Impala's Kevin Parker released Currents, his trippy take on psychedelia, more than three years ago, but since then he has enjoyed a quite a bit of mainstream success, moving around outside the confines of the band, venturing out into genres far afield of the psych-rock that he's perfected — from getting featured on Rihanna's ANTI to collaborating with Lady Gaga on Perfect Illusion to embracing a shimmering blend of pop and dance, an aesthetic that paid off really well in his remix of Miguel's Waves and Barbagallo's Longue la nuit, and his collaboration with Steven Zhu and Kali Uchis earlier this March/April. This, in addition to releasing a bunch of unreleased tracks and remixes that failed to make it to the 2015 album late last year. Now he has teamed up with Trinidadian rapper and singer Theophilus London for a new joint project called Theo Impala, and while no formal release date has been announced, a sneaky rip of Only You and Whiplash have surfaced, which you can listen here and here. That's not all. A demo version of an unreleased SZA song titled Back Together, featuring Mark Ronson and Kevin Parker, found its way to YouTube as well. Needless to say, it's all very chill and full-on synthwave.
