Listen: Nicholas Krgovich's "Rejection"

Last year, Nicholas Krgovich got dumped by his boyfriend, and the result is "Ouch". More than being a mere breakup album, it has been a catharsis, he writes, adding "Life is short and being afraid of shit is so boring, being fearful of being free is such a waste. Love everybody, love! And if it all goes awry and you end up with a bunch of sad ass songs? Hooray for you!" And nothing more illustrates this fact than Rejection ("Why is the one thing that I need to know/ Just the one thing that I don't get to know?/ And I can't ask you and even if I could/ There'd be no answer cause there's no answer/ And this unknowing is torture," he goes), a song so deceptively breezy, it masks well the Vancouver pop explorer's deep well of heartache under gentle guitar strums and tender melodic soundscapes.
