Book Review: Close to Home

Now I had to read this, hadn't I? Not just for the sake of being a completist, but because it's a damn good series. Close to Home takes the reader to where it all began, the ground zero for the DI Adam Fawley procedurals, opening with the abduction of an eight-year-old Daisy from her parents' summer party. But if it appears straightforward enough, the answers to the puzzle are anything but. Making her deceptively thrilling debut, author Cara Hunter crafts a fast-paced psychological mystery that's abound with characters we actually care for — they are strong and deep rooted in reality — and masterfully plotted to elicit explosive revelations, resulting in a jaw-dropping finale. This is about as good as crime writing gets.
