Book Review: Her Every Fear
It was going to be tough to beat the tour de force that was The Kind Worth Killing, but Peter Swanson, in his latest London-Boston thriller Her Every Fear, has done the impossible, delivering a chilling novel that revolves around four people and their messed up lives, as the psychologically-dense narrative effortlessly slips back and forth in time, telling the same story from different perspectives. It does add to a bit of repetition, I must admit, especially given how the stories don't really differ from one another, but Swanson more than makes up for it by turning the novel into a creepy, stalker-ish character study that delves deep into the minds of each of these characters and giving the readers a taste of their descent to chaos as the narrative unspools towards a thrilling finale. Gripping!
