Music Review: Ego (Telugu)

Composer(s): Sai Kartheek

Sai Kartheek really has a knack for mainstream soundtracks, delivering just the right mix of fresh and massy tunes where a Thaman or Devi Sri Prasad have repeatedly failed over the last few years. And Ego is no different. If Shreya Ghoshal-Dinker sung romantic ballad Emo Idivarakemo rides on a melodic base, O Naatu Kurroda and Akkada Undo are absurdly catchy, partly owing to their super-rhythmic beats, but also for their consistently engaging tunes, especially the latter, which benefits from an interesting semi-classical-western fusion. Kurrodu Perfect takes the folk vibe a notch higher, and in Anurag Kulkarni's lively vocals, the song makes for a frenzied listen, but not before taking a Rakkamma Kaiya Thattu-like classical diversion midway. O Buri Buggala rounds off the soundtrack on a fun note, with the composer's laidback singing neatly complemented by an assortment of thavil, nadaswaram and drums. Sai Kartheek continues his impressive streak with Ego.
