Making his musical entry in Mollywood with Koode is Raghu Dixit, and my god, what a debut it is. But hardly surprising, given the man's prodigious talents. Aararo is easily one of the album's high-points, beautifully composed and handled with ease by Anne Amie, even as Raghu Dixit himself goes behind the mic for a slower, minimal version of the ethereal melody (called Aarorum) that's as much engaging as the former. Anne gets to sing the title song too, a sprightly number that automatically puts a spring to your steps, with lead actor Nazriya Nazim's conversational interjections adding to its immense charm. Paranne, likewise, is effervescent and infectious, riding on a banjo-backed tune that Benny Dayal aces with an inimitable energy he brings to the table. M. Jayachandran, who gets to compose the rest, shines in Vaanaville, a lovely guitary melody sung splendidly by Karthik (as always!), and even more so in the serene Minnaminni, with Abhay Jodhpurkar lending pitch-perfect vocal support to the soulful composition. Koode is such a fine soundtrack, not listening to it would be a crime. Indubitably one of this year's best.
