Best Apps: Feb '18 Edition

To quote a statistic from latest research by NPR and Edison Research, 39 million U.S. adults (that's roughly one in six) now own a voice-activated smart speaker, the adoption rate of such gadgets steadily outpacing that of smartphones and tablets over the last three years. As new forms of interaction begin to take root in our homes (i.e. voice), will conventional apps die a slow death? Can web apps even become a reality?
