Music Review: Bluff Master (Telugu)
Composer(s): Sunil Kashyap

A quick scan of Sunil Kashyap's discography tells me he has been active as a singer and composer at least since the start of the decade, which is all the more surprising given this is the first time I am hearing his name. But guess what, I am happy I did. Not only is Bluff Master consistently engaging, Kashyap weaves together an arresting concoction of a multitude of sounds that genre-hops from sprawling melodies (Yevo Rangula Parichayam) to serene harmonies (Ye Maayo Emo Teliyadhe, sung beautifully by Sunitha Upadrashta) to soulful pathos (Neethone) to wacky rap (What The BEEP) to propulsive chant-like classical medley (Satkarmabhista) all without skipping a beat. The result is a soundtrack that doesn't succumb to cookie-cutter pop as it subtly bends its rules, an album that's as well-crafted as it is competent.
