Heavy Rotation: Ashic Arun, Krsna Solo, Rajesh Murugesan & More

A roundup of some of my new favourites across Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada...

Neeyam Sooryan (Kaamuki), Aaro Varunnathai (Mazhayathu) - Lilting melodies from Gopi Sundar, matched by Geethu and Diya S. Menon's beautiful singing.

Aa Jao Na (Veere Di Wedding) - Veere... is quite a cacophonous wedding-themed soundtrack, but this Arijit Singh-sung song by Shashwat Sachdev is its easy highlight. Also, I am not a big fan of remixes, but DJ Notorious tropical rework of Tareefan, despite its obvious nod to Let Me Love You, absolutely rocks.

Kuch Anokhe Rules (102 Not Out) - Salim-Sulaiman nail the retro-jazz vibe, with Armaan Malik's spectacular rendition lending it beautiful company.

Bulbula, Yeh Bhi Beet Jayega, Tumse Hi (Meri Nimmo) - Minimal on sounds, yet undeniably pretty. That about sums up Krsna Solo and Mangesh Dhakde's (who has composed Tumse Hi) latest outing.

Oru Mara Nizhalil (Mercury) - Quintessential Santhosh Narayanan waltz in Sathyaprakash's haunting voice.

Mazha Megham (Krishnam) - Vijay Yesudas at his flawless best, sounding almost like his father in this pathos-soaked composition from Hariprasad.

Paravayai, Trip Song - Payunne Mele (Thobama) - Premam-fame Rajesh Murugesan ropes in Santhosh Narayanan staples Pradeep Kumar and Kalyani Nair for the captivating, free-flowing Paravayai, while Benny Dayal aces the latter, dreamy number like only he can.

Mugulunage (Edakallu Guddada Mele) - Tabla, tambourine and ghatam form the pretty backdrop for this lovely melody sung by Karthik and Shreya Ghoshal and composed by Ashic Arun.

Yeno Hosa Nantu, Kandey Iralilla (Krishna Tulasi) - Armaan Malik has fast become the next Sonu Nigam in Kannada, becoming the most sought-after Bollywood singer in a short span of time. He is, needless to say, the best thing about Kiran Ravindranath's Yeno Hosa Nantu, even as Varun Pradeep turns in an effective rendition of Kandey Iralilla.
