Heavy Rotation: Achu Rajamani, Joshua Sridhar, Kailas Menon & More
A quick take on some of the most recent releases in Indian film music...
Vilagaadhe Enadhuyirae (Oru Kuppai Kathai) - One of those lilting tunes from Joshua Sridhar, along the lines of Ikkuthae Kangal Vikkuthae.
Pondattee (Golisoda 2) - Achu himself croons this gorgeous ditty, but what takes it to an altogether whole new level is its ambient folky arrangement.
Beat Juunglee (Dil Juunglee) - I must admit, Tanishk Bagchi does know how to spin a catchy number. Case in point being Beat Junnglee, even if it's a clever rework of Vishal-Shekhar's I Hate Luv Storys.
Ore Nila Ore Veyil (B. Tech) - Is it too early to call 2018 Rahul Raj's year, because it damn sounds like it! What a splendid melody!
Deham Ichina Daivama, Edo Jarige (Needi Naadhi Oke Katha) - Naveen Iyer is the star of Deham Ichina..., an atmospheric melody set to tune by Suresh Bobbili, while the strings-heavy goodness that's Edo Jarige has Chinmayi's lovely rendition going for it.
Jeevamshamayi, Thaa Thinnam, Maanathe Kanalaali (Theevandi) - Kailas Menon has composed over 400 jingles for several noted brands, but if his foray into films is anything to go by, he is here to stay. Jeevamshamayi, in particular, is a stunner all the way.
Etho Paattin Eenam, Oru Mozhi Parayam (Ira) - Perhaps Gopi Sundar's best outing this year so far, with the pretty melodies gaining immensely from Vijay Yesudas' flawless vocals.
Thoo Manju (Krishnam) - Full-on Vidyasagar vibes from this Hariprasad-composed melody sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan.
Etho Vazhitharayil (Chanakya Thanthram) - Shaan Rahman spins a very Bollywood'ish melody, but ethereal it is all the same.
Ilakalai Pookkalai (Parole) - Vijay Yesudas at it again, this time joined by Shakthisree Gopalan for Elvyn Joshua's simple guitar-flicked melody.
Neene Nanagella (Johny Johny Yes Papa) - B. Ajaneesh Loknath's strings-laden melody backed stupendously by Armaan Malik and Bobby C. R.
