Music Review: Bharat Ane Nenu (Telugu)

Composer(s): Devi Sri Prasad

The Song of Bharat, the title song, sets quite the tone for the film, riding heavily on David Simon's invigorating rendition. Director-actor-singer Farhan Akhtar makes his Tollywood debut in I Don't Know, and while he has never been great at flexing his vocals, the fact that he sounds almost like DSP himself works in the song's favour, even if it's a Latinate dance number of the garden variety. Vachaadayyo Saami is no different either, but to give credit where it's due, Kailash Kher and Divya Kumar turn in an energetic vocal performance that elevates an otherwise perfunctory folk number. Ide Kalala Vunnadhe is as routine as it can get, with Devi Sri Prasad enveloping Andrea Jeremiah's voice in a cascade of guitar-strums and rhythmic beats, even as he wraps it all up on a romantic-but-customary note in O Vasumathi. Very DSP'esque this Bharat Ane Nenu!
