Music Review: Blackmail (Hindi)
Composer(s): Amit Trivedi, Badshah, Guru Randhawa

Nothing about Happy Happy is particularly unique: the hook is middling, the rap is weak and to top it all, it's plain monotonous. Patola, while harmless fun, makes one wonder if it is sheer desperation for a hit song that's driving the makers to remix songs released as late as 2015! Amit Trivedi, for his part, does well singing the intense Badla with rapper DIVINE for company, while Pawni Pandey confidently leads the rhythmic, if banal, folk number Bewafa Beauty. Nindaraan Diyaan opens on a sedate melodic note, only to switch gears midway and build into a hard rock sonic climax that's downright anthemic. Sataasat is where things get interesting, with Trivedi unleashing his wacky side for what's a mighty enjoyable fusion. But for the last two tracks, Blackmail is deathly dull.
