Amidst the roster of new talent that have made their presence felt in Tollywood music, Shravan Bharadwaj stands apart. Not only has he been consistently serving delightfully askew and instantly catchy tunes film after film, his music has left a conspicuous stamp, resulting in captivating melodies and intriguing points of sonic experimentation. And Bhanumathi & Ramakrishna is no exception. Singer Hemachandra confidently leads the whimsical retro-leaning symphony Love-o Ishq-o, and Shravan himself gets behind the mic for three songs, the first of which, Oh Kaadhal, works admirably well as an undeniably pretty melody driven by a deft play of breathy coos and breezy strings. The title track, although a little out of place, is a wacky faux-bhajan, its totally accessible mix of heady pop and funk elements set against an addictive folk-rap soundbed. Tellaare Lope's rumbling bass sets the tone for a punchy rock number, complete with sugary hooks and heady grooves. The soundtrack's easy highlight is Alavaate Ledhemo, an ethereal electro-pop melody (that flute!) underpinned by a rotating ensemble of pulsing beats and arpeggiated synths that's superbly complemented by Lalitha Kavya (remember Em Maayo from Meeku Meere Maaku Meeme?) on the vocals. Shravan Bharadwaj continues to churn out fantastic music, in his inimitable style.
