Book Review: I Know Everything
In Matthew Farrell's sophomore outing I Know Everything, a deadly car crash off a cliff in New Jersey turns out to be a case of shrewdly-planned murder. The driver is the wealthy philanthropist Amanda Brock, and soon enough her husband Randall Brock, a psychologist who treats patients with disturbing fantasies, becomes the number one suspect. As evidence against him mounts, Brock is suddenly visited by a mysterious stranger who wants him to reveal the past he has tried to keep hidden for years in exchange for information about the killer. The psychological thriller has a few nifty tricks up its sleeve, turning it into a clever maze of perspectives that lead your gaze into the mind of the protagonist, but comes undone by its predictable plot twists and lacklustre prose. Standard police procedural that's par for the course, but unsatisfying if you want anything more.
