Tech Brief: OnePlus Unveils OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro Phones
Gone are the days when OnePlus branded itself as a flagship killer. In a universe populated by Galaxy's and Pixels, it still is, only that it comes at a premium cost. The company, known for its value-for-money offerings, has officially unveiled its smartphone lineup for 2020, OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro.
The former is a souped up 7 Pro with updated specs (costing $699), while the 8 Pro aims straight at the heart of Galaxy S20 Plus with a Snapdragon 865 processor, a 6.78-inch, 3168×1440 120Hz OLED display, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4510mAh battery (not to mention a mostly stock Android experience) — all for $899. There's also a higher spec version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage (for $100 more, or $999).
That price makes the 8 Pro the most expensive OnePlus phone yet, but also simultaneously cheaper than its direct competition. There's no doubting OnePlus' appeal to the Android enthusiasts, but for a premium 'Never Settle' tag, the choice between a Galaxy, a Pixel, or the 8 Pro will be ultimately down to your personal preference.
