Listen: Jamie xx's "Idontknow"

It's been nearly five years since James Thomas Smith, better known by his musical moniker Jamie xx, released one of the most dazzlingly fluid and off-kilter album In Colour — who can forget Gosh or I Know There's Gonna Be (Good Times)? — but finally we're getting to hear what appears to be fresh material from the London artist and producer. The new song, entitled Idontknow, is a percussion-heavy rave-fuelled banger, picking up speed with glimmers of beat, snatches of melody, trick sounds, and fluctuating dynamics built around glitchy vocal bursts. It pulses and skitters along a trance-inducing rhythm, before it all climaxes in a chaotic, wild outro. Listen below -
