In some ways, Mithai picks up right from where Vivek Sagar left off in Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi. Liberation remains within the confines of grunge rock but strays occasionally into brass territory with interesting results, and aided by Sivam and Anurag Kulkarni's punchy vocals, the song is nothing short of spectacular, building into a rapturous crescendo that's downright anthemic. Idhem Life Ra is bouncy blend of bluegrass and rock 'n' roll, carrying a spring in its steps that's matched by Sravya Kothalanka's sprightly rendition. Vivek Sagar keeps it just as refreshing, throwing an arresting mix of bongos and violins for good measure. The Dirty Song is a lively electronic-folk fusion, but Anthuleni sits comfortably within the composer's zone, opening with a prolonged guitar'y prelude (Shashanka and Neil) before Sai Shivani's vocals gently enters the picture even as the soundscape transitions into a jazz rhythm that's just beyond beautiful. Tappukoku Raa is no exception, expanding on the retro-like sound, with Dev's Harmonica and soft drum beats accentuating Smaran Sai and Adithya Shankar's laid-back singing. Vivek Sagar opens 2019 on a terrific note with a string of consistently engaging tunes. A delectable musical confection, no less!
