Listen: Ariana Grande's "Bloodline" & "Ghostin"

An effortless follow-up to last year's undoubted best pop album Sweetener, thank u, next finds Ariana Grande honing her sleek R&B sounds and dreamy ballads (imagine, ghostin), blending them with smooth trap beats and finger snaps, resulting in a deeply personal sonic outing that explores the last few tumultuous months she has had (including ex-boyfriend and rapper Mac Miller's death last September from an overdose, and her engagement with SNL actor Pete Davidson falling apart a mere few weeks later), and her efforts to heal and move on ("Promise me that when you kiss my lips, you'll make it stick/ That's the way to shut me up after an argument/ No eyeliner on, but looking at you is the fix/ Highlight of my life, just like that Fenty Beauty kit," she sings on make up, in a clever play of words), while simultaneously giving us a little more of the woman who wants to be in charge of her own narrative, flawed or not. What's not to like?
