Heavy Rotation: Manikanth Kadri, Ron Ethan Yohann, Vishal Chandrashekhar & More

Mukkuthi's (Mamangam) lovely classical lilt rides on a tune that we've heard too many times before from M. Jayachandran, but it's largely redeemed by Shreya Ghoshal (and Shashaa Tirupati in its Hindi variant Boondon Si), whose voice melts like honey in this soulful song, as is Bombay Jayashri who brings her A-game to the pleasant lullaby Thaaraattu. Moothon, on the other hand, has a cracker of a melody in Sagar Desai's Bikhre, with Shashank Arora and Mousumi Datta rocking the subtle yet soothing composition. Not to be outdone, Carnatic exponent Sudha Ragunathan hits all the right notes with her fabulous rendition of Vishal Chandrashekhar's Mazhai (Kaalidas). Kaakkai Chiraginile Nandalala and Maalai Pozhudhin are no exceptions, effective and superbly sung by Abhay Jodhpurkar. Here's a roundup of my favourite songs from this week...
