For a film that's a Telugu remake of last year's Tamil psychological thriller Ratsasan, the easy way out would have been to retain an already excellent original score from Ghibran. Yet in a suprise twist, the makers have done the impossible by not only roping the composer (who is also in charge of the BGM for the upcoming action thriller Saaho) again, but also getting him to compose the tunes afresh. The upshot, as you would expect, is by turns captivating and intriguing. Chinni Chinni Chinukulu relies on Ghibran's symphonic opulence to conjure a lovely semi-classical melody, with Sid Sriram lending solid vocal purchase. Naa Chinni Thalli — most likely the equivalent of Kannamma Kanvizhi — has Kaala Bhairava delivering a stellar rendition of the hypnotic cut, while Shabir goes all out spitting verses in rapid flow in the gripping hip-hop track Cheekatlo Kamme. Ghibran tweaks Maayangal Naanada in Kallalo Merupu, switching the former's retro arrangement for a thumping rock tune laced with swirls of electronic colour — but the militaristic soundbed is the same, if only more punchy — and Yazin Nizar's (who also sang the original) outburst elevates it every bit. Ghibran, in his fifth outing in Telugu, gets everything right.
