Dorasani is very much an earthy affair, with Prashanth R. Vihari conjuring an album as much in love with traditional folk (in a way that reminded me of Bijibal) and classical flourishes as it is with the textural longing of contemporary elements, and the result is a wonderfully pleasant, dexterous melting pot of sounds that's at once arresting. The stupendous highlight is Kallallo Kala Varamai, an astounding dulcet classical fusion sung by Chinmayi that evokes A. R. Rahman's Naane Varugiraen, even as Vihari employs a blend of mridangam, piano, frenetic strings, thudding percussion to fantastic effect. Dorasani continues Prashanth R. Vihari's dream run as a composer.
