The Cure is engineered for mainstream radio and has its heart set in the right place, but it's also frustratingly generic, with a hook that seems to have been lifted straight from Justin Bieber's 2015 hit Sorry. The Cure is a song several years too late. Paramore, on the other hand, appear to be experimenting with new sounds, sounding nothing like ever before in their new wave jam Hard Times. Also in the offing is Day Wave's Promises, which combines Jackson Phillips' signature warm and breathy alt-pop with shimmering, upbeat disco elements. Be warned, it's a repeat trap, just like his other songs, including my favourite Drag, off his debut EP Headcase -
