Music Review: Devadas (Telugu)
Composer(s): Mani Sharma

Mani Sharma spins a jolly tune in Vaaru Veeru, and complemented by Anurag Kulakarni and Anjana Sowmya on the vocals, the song gets a new lease of life. Padmalatha, almost sounding like Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, aces the foot-tapping classical fusion Chettu Kinda Doctor in her idiosyncratic style, while Lakumika turns out to be yet another Ganesh bhajan, energetic but run-of-the-mill. Hey Babu rides on an assortment of accordions, strings and trumpets, but passable just about sums it up, despite all the retro-like soundscape it aims for. Sid Sriram, who has emerged a hot property after Inkem Inkem, is reliably the heart and soul of Emo Emo, a soothing romantic melody ably assisted by Ramya Behara, and in Manasedo Vethukuthu Undi, the soundtrack ventures into a plaintive space, with Mani Sharma crafting a simple acoustic bedrock that Yazin Nizar and Anurag Kulkarni deliver competently. Devadas is nothing to rave about, but it's not bad either.
