Music Review: Heropanti (Hindi)
Composers(s): Manj Musik, Mustafa Zahid-Bilal Saeed, Sajid-Wajid
Listen to the songs online here: Saavn (Whistle Baja, Rest of the OST)
Manj Musik's techno-Punjabi dance number Whistle Baja is addictive, foot-tapping, and reuses Hero's flute bit to catchy results. Rabba is clearly Sajid-Wajid territory, the melody benefiting from the lovely voice of Mohit Chauhan to a great extent. The soft-rock based Tabah is fairly template'ish, but Mohit Chauhan once again delivers the song in his inimitable style. Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal are perfect in the mellifluous electropop track Raat Bhar, but Manj's Pappi Song seems to be clearly inspired by Yo Yo Honey Singh's recent outings. Mustafa and Bilal's slow-paced Tere Binaa, which rounds off the album, is predominantly backed by guitars and is fairly adequate. Heropanti offers less in the way of something new, but is still an enjoyable listen.
