Music Review: Super Deluxe (Tamil)
Composer(s): Yuvan Shankar Raja
Listen to the songs online here: JioSaavn
For a movie that's as ambitious, utterly unique and genre-defying as Super Deluxe, Yuvan Shankar Raja crafts a perfect melting pot of sounds that runs the sonic gamut, leaving behind zero regard for a uniform sound, style or even structure, throwing aside all preconceived notions to craft something that's just as diverse, genre-less and potent. The standouts in this instrumental hodge-podge come in the form of Mother, Adhu Verum Kal-Lu Dhaan Saami, and particularly Vaazhvin Ragasiyam, an ambient piece that's set against a shimmering, dreamy canvas propelled along by a gently pulsing rhythmic current. Super Deluxe isn't so much a mere collection of songs as it is an eclectic thematic effort that finds Yuvan broadening out and trying out new things. What's not to love?
