Music Review: Sardaar Gabbar Singh (Telugu)

Composer(s): Devi Sri Prasad

Sardaar finds DSP recycling his signature rock-laden tune for the zillionth time, but having Benny Dayal croon the song might have been the best thing the composer has ever done. Vijay Prakash (alarmingly sounding like Hariharan) and Shreya Ghoshal similarly propel the formulaic but quite engaging melody O'Pilla Shubhanalla, its enticing blend of ektara ravanahatha, mandolin and shehnai not far behind in keeping it afloat. Tauba Tauba is Apni To Jaise Taise 2.0, while the percussion-driven folky numbers Aadevadanna Eedevadanna and Khakhee Chokka are too noisy and staid a listen. Nee Chepakallu is pleasant, in a sort of predictable way, but again has nothing exceptional to offer. Devi Sri Prasad's Sardaar Gabbar Singh is forgettable and better off unheard.
