Music Review: Akira (Kannada)

Hey Hudugaru Yella has an undeniable Gatiya Ilidu hangover, but is a fun folk number while it lasts. Kanna Sanneyindalene, sung superbly by Puneeth Rajkumar, works very well as a punchy melody, while Vijay Prakash tries as much to infuse some energy to the run-of-the-mill Nam Arealiondina. But in Yetthakond Hogu Ma, he gets a better deal, singing the energetic dubstep-infused techno track alongside C. R. Bobby. The title song, incorporating a bevy of heavy electronic sounds, blazes through in Ajaneesh's fantastic rendition, even as Godu Godu Bandhavne Nodu goes the formulaic dappan koothu route, with Aliside Usiragide taking a pleasant, melodious turn in an otherwise raucous soundtrack. For Ajaneesh, Akira, although adequately enjoyable for a commercial outing, is a step down from Ulidavaru Kandante.
