Android Lollipop/Marshmallow - What's Fixed?

This is a quick follow up post to my major nitpickings about Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, some of which have witnessed a change since I last wrote about them at the start of this month. So without any further ado, let's dive right in!

Hangouts gets a full Material Design - Yes, it has finally happened!

Sound Search Widget ditches Holo-inspired design - While you might have to wait for an official Marshmallow (Android 6.0) release to try it out, the widget has now been integrated into Google Now's "What's this song?" search query, and sadly gone with it is the easy-to-access sound search history. Well, you gain some, you lose some.

YouTube app on Android goes back to its old design? - Going by the beautifully designed YouTube Gaming app for Android, I am wishing for the day when such a similar redesign would grace the main YouTube app. In fact, I love the way it handles tabs, alternating between both icons and text as the user navigates across. But coming back, imagine my surprise when I hesitatingly updated YouTube to the latest version (10.32.54) today and was greeted with the old design, that was tossed out in favour of a simpler, but confusing one weeks back. What's more, even the background playback issues have been fixed.

The latest version of YouTube (1) & (2), versus the old design
One other odd thing I observed is the account picker, which has once again changed places and yet, is still inconsistent from rest of the apps.

The account picker that gets triggered from the Navigation Drawer in YouTube on the latest version (right)
vs. the general behaviour (leftmost). The middle two are from the older versions of the app.
Update: It looks like my over-enthusiasm for YouTube was short-lived. More than a day-and-a-half later, my YouTube Android app is once again back to its new design (the third one on the first screenshot). Background play however still works!
