There are a few things that are generally a given when it comes to Thaman soundtracks, chief among which is the heavy reliance of auto-tune. And Pathala is no exception, pairing dancefloor-focused electronics with a groovy techno production. Album highlight Tum Tum picks up right from where Oo Baava (Prati Roju Pandaage) left off, with the composer concocting a foot-tapping folk piece that's propelled along by a driving rhythmic current. Little India — a reference to the Singaporean district of the same name — is customary, coasting along templatised sounds Thaman has perfected over the years, if only redeemed by an upbeat rap break, courtesy Arivu. Orey Naan Orey Nee and Run & Die, both tuned by Sam C. S., are high octane and urgent, but also situational and thematic, and accentuated further by their moody synth-rock base. Barring Tum Tum, Enemy is no great shakes.
