Ghungroo severely lacks Bang Bang's effortless smoothness, but in Arijit Singh and Shilpa Rao's (Meherbaan is still the melody to beat!) rendition, the song comes across as a neatly designed genial pop, its lush down-tempo twist midway working mighty well in its favour. More than anything, it's Warren Mendonsa's iridescent guitar line that's the clincher. Jai Jai Shiv Shankar, in contrast, is discount Disco Deewane if only with more of a kick in its step, its tumbling drums providing the backbone for Vishal Dadlani and Benny Dayal's lively vocals. The musical baton is then passed to Sanchit Balhara, whose three instrumentals checks all the requisite boxes but never diverges from middle of the road, the exception being Khalid's Theme, a heady tune that rides on an intriguing soundbed while marrying contemporary instrumentation with a retro-ish tinge. War is no match for Bang Bang, the last memorable outing from Vishal and Shekhar, but it's not entirely bad either.
