Listen: Panda Bear's "Dolphin"

Noah Benjamin Lennox, the founding member of Baltimore-based experimental pop outfit Animal Collective who is better known by his musical moniker Panda Bear, found himself not being part of the band's audio-visual album Tangerine Reef released earlier this year mostly due to distance issues. (Lennox lives in Lisbon.) But fret not. For the chillwave, indie veteran is all set for a solo return after four years with a new album called Buoys (2/8). "They feel really kind of simple to me. Really basic in a way, almost like there's sections of the songs missing," Lennox had said of his upcoming material back in June 2017, and Dolphin, the lead single, is characterised by this very "skeletal" nature in that the production is very sparse, riding on a soft acoustic soundbed coupled with water drop plinks that lends the song an aqueous touch.
