Composer(s): Vishnu Mohan Sithara

Mohan Sithara's son Vishnu has been around for about five years now, but Ottakkoru Kaamukan might as well be the first time he is coming to his own with a string of lilting ditties, accompanied oh-so-beautifully by a spartan arrangement and fantastic vocal backing all-throughout. If Aathmaavil evokes pleasant memories of the oldies, Maanathe Chandirane Pole turns out to be ethereal, with Joyce Surendran's spectacular singing matching the semi-classical melody step for step. Vishnu himself goes behind the mic for the breezy, drawling Vennila Kathiro, while the sombre Ethoru Sooryan is Mrudula Varier's show. Ottakkoru Kaamukan may not be the best to come out in Malayalam this year, but Vishnu finally shows promise in his fourth outing as a composer.
