Music Review: Karuppan (Tamil)
Composer(s): D. Imman
Listen to the songs online here: Saavn
Imman is talented, no doubt, but I cannot put in words how badly I want him to get out of the rustic, earthy template he has become synonymous for ever since Mynaa and Kumki (barring last year's Bogan and Miruthan that is). Karuppan only succeeds in adding to the déjà vu for no fault of his, and despite the nifty touches he incorporates in his tunes this time around (especially in Usure Usure and Azhagazhaga), you can't help but wish things were a little different.
