Heavy Rotation: Bat for Lashes, FKA twigs, Hundred Waters & More
Dream-pop, shoegaze and synths dominate this week's list of my favourite songs...
I Do (Bat for Lashes) - Natasha Khan's fabulous voice is enough to melt your heart and say "I Do"!
Running Out of Time (Connan Mockasin) - Fuzzy, retro'ish cover of Rexy's lead single from the band's 1981 album.
Secure (Dâm Funk) - Synths at their absolute delectable best!
Good to Love (FKA twigs) - A minimalist but hypnotic soaring melody, so different from what we have heard so far (M3LL155X in particular) from the talented singer.
Death Dream (Frightened Rabbit) - Scottish indie-rock band Frightened Rabbit is busy gearing up for Painting of a Panic Attack, their upcoming album scheduled for release this April, and the lead single Death Dream is one dreamy-folksy bliss.
Forgive Me For Giving Up (Hundred Waters) - Synth-folk purveyors Hundred Waters come up with a string-laden ballad that's utterly mesmerising.
Everybody Wants to Love You (Japanese Breakfast) - There's no doubt in my mind that everybody will fall in love with this exuberant song!
Distant Dream (John Carpenter) - Synth and rock, hell yeah, what's there not to like?
Out of Control (Lush) - Dream-pop and shoegaze blend together in this ethereal ditty!
Running (Mind Spiders) - As if imbibing the very nature of the song's title, Texas-based Mind Spiders' Running is a frenzied mad dash from start to finish.
The Pop Kids (Pet Shop Boys) - House music meets pop and the result is this exuberant, sparkly dance anthem.
Castrati Stack (Tim Hecker) - From electronic artist Tim Hecker comes a haunting instrumental, very moody and serene.
