LG Goes Modular With G5

LG took the wraps off its 2016 flagship Android smartphone G5 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today, and the first thing you will notice about the phone is not its generic design, not its eyesore of a rear camera bump (though it features a pair of lenses, one 16 MP and the other 8 MP), not the absence of app drawer, not the (still) awkward placement of fingerprint scanner-cum-power button on the back, not the usual iterative specs that are trotted out year after year, but the very fact that you can swap its bottom chin for a variety of third-party modules aimed at augmenting your multimedia experience, while supplementing the phone with extra juice to power through the day. Welcome to the first mainstream modular smartphone!
