Composer(s): Ilaiyaraaja

Reena Mecareena's Michael Jackson-touches notwithstanding, it seems as if it was deliberate on part of the composer to not rope in Suraj Jagan to do the singing. In his place you get Piyush Kapoor, who's energetic rendition works wonders. Piyush comes a second time for the moody and short title song, alongside Aparna for its female variant. Saradale features an interesting mix of contemporary and folk sounds, and having a gang a four female singers Manasi, Ramya, Rita and Reena Reddy on board accentuates this blend even better.

Vibhavari Apte sounds almost like Bhavatharini in the ethereal, classic Ilaiyaraaja melody Edhuru Choosthunna. So is the gorgeous Kanulu Kalanu Piliche, which might as well be the perfect throwback to his own yesteryear compositions (those violins, damn!), with dependable vocal backing from Haricharan Seshadri and Chinmayi Sripada. Ilaiyaraaja-regular Karthik makes the lovely-if-familiar melody Maatallo Cheppaleni a pleasant listen, while Tholi Paruvam and Okasaari O Vayyari are largely synthy affairs, incorporating an arrangement that's enjoyable and hip! Trust Ilaiyaraaja to come up with something fresh every time, his Abbayitho Ammayi is a keeper.
