Heavy Rotation: Pritam Chakraborty

A rundown of some of my favourite Pritam songs...

Mere Dholna Sun (Bhool Bhulaiyaa) - Pritam steps out of his comfort zone with this stunner of a classical composition. And props to Shreya Ghoshal and M. G. Sreekumar for their flawless vocal delivery.

Tu Hi Haqeeqat (Tum Mile), Gale Lag Ja (De Dana Dan) - The songs, along with A. R. Rahman's Jashn-E-Bahaara, that introduced me to Javed Ali.

Pehli Nazar Mein (Race), Tera Hone Laga Hoon, Tu Jaane Na (Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani), Bakhuda Tumhi Ho (Kismat Konnection) - Possibly the most simplest and the beautiful of all melodies composed by Pritam, so fabulously sung by Atif Aslam.

Tune Jo Naa Kaha (New York), Abhi Kuch Dino Se (Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji), Pee Loon (Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai), Tum Se Hi (Jab We Met) - Pritam and Mohit Chauhan have delivered a lot of hits together no doubt, but these melodies feature at the top of my list.

Kya Mujhe Pyar Hai (Woh Lamhe), Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai (Gangster), Zara Sa (Jannat), Alvida, O Meri Jaan (Life in a... Metro), Dil Samandar (Garam Masala), Hai Junoon (New York), Zahreeli Raatein (Chocolate), Mere Bina (Unplugged) (Crook) - Another frequent collaborator with Pritam is K.K., and the result has been nothing but magical!

Teri Ore (Singh Is Kinng) - Shreya Ghoshal and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, need I say more?

In Dino (Life in a... Metro) - Pritam, along with Suhail Kaul, Soham Chakraborty and Bangladeshi singer Faruq Mahfuz Anam, formed the Metro Band for what's a rock-heavy soundtrack, with In Dino being the astounding standout.

Khudaya Khair (Billu) - Soham Chakraborty, Akriti Kakkar and Monali Thakur come together for a lovely folk-based melody.
