Music Review: Kaaval (Tamil)

Aadu Annatha is predictable gaana salvaged by the interesting use of sarangi, if nothing else. The gaana flavour is carried intact in the passable Un Kannukullara as well, but G. V. Prakash bounces back strongly with the pensive Natta Nadu Iravula, the violins and Sanjana Divaker Kalmanje's emotive rendition working big time in its favour. Aavaaram Poovukkum (beautiful singing by Megha) is too close for comfort to Ilaiyaraaja's Asaiya Kathula (Johnny), as Tippu and Santosh Hariharan croon the interestingly arranged Sakka Podu, even if the tune is unexciting and leaves a lot to be desired. Kaaval is an altogether forgettable fare from G. V. Prakash Kumar.
