Music Review: Poojai (Tamil)
Composer(s): Yuvan Shankar Raja
The kuthu number Soda Bottle, with its Vethalaya Pottendi touch, is as unexciting as it can get. However Devathai's bubble-gummy arrangements, though a tad reminiscent of Samar's Azhagho Azhaghu, is groovy and worth a listen. Getting past the bland electro-folk fusion Ippadiye, Yuvan continues his off-key singing in the customary melancholic ditty Uyire. The rousing, yet templatized, Odi Odi's saving grace is Palakkad Sriram's impactful rendition, but Verarum's well-orchestrated melody is a keeper, nicely complemented by Karthik and Pooja on the vocals. Poojai is yet another uninspiring offering from Yuvan Shankar Raja.
