Music Review: Iyobinte Pustakam (Malayalam)

Haricharan Seshadri and Neha Nair totally own the haunting and beautifully composed Raave, the romantic ballad immensely benefiting from a mighty engaging tune and a stupendous choice of instruments like flute, violins and traditional percussion among others. The contemporary folk fusion Maane isn't far behind either. The orchestration is bang on target this time too and singers Anil Ram and Neha offer rock-solid vocal support. Whipping up a scintillating world music fusion (the tribal beats are too good by the way!), the composers unleash an interesting cornucopia of souds with Theyattam. Of the six theme pieces based on the six characters, the atmospheric Aloshy's Theme and the guitary Chemban's Theme are eminently listenable, while Usha Uthup's flawless singing of the jazzy Rahel's Theme is its highlight. Iyobinte Pustakam is fantabulous and a must-listen!
