Carnatic motifs meet energetic rap interludes in Lazy Song, a languidly unfurling downtempo classical fusion that finds singers Sinduri Vishal and Lady Kash in fine mettle. Gana Bala is no stranger to crooning quirky tunes (remember Kaasu Panam?), and Aao Ji Aao, bedecked by generous dollops of clarinet, horns, and nadaswaram, works well as an effectively orchestrated and groovy, retro-leaning track. Shakthisree Gopalan-sung Nee Yenadharuginil Nee is a gorgeous waltz, with her husky voice floating over a softly strummed guitar. Sinduri Vishal is in her element in the title song, a lush classical serenade that's accompanied by an assortment of ghatam, veena and gliding choruses. Sakiye's misty-eyed melancholy is elevated by gentle strings, violin solos and Yazin Nizar's emotive rendition, while Bodhai Kaname is a cracker of a melody marked by a dexterous mix of instruments (that veena and violin!), and top-notch vocal runs from Anirudh Ravichander and Shashaa Tirupati. Vishal Chandrashekhar, as always, keeps it classy and eclectic with Oh Manapenne!
