Music Review: Navarasa (Tamil)
Composer(s): A. R. Rahman, Govind Vasantha, Justin Prabhakaran, Karthik, Sundaramurthy KS

Composer A. R. Rahman crafts a hypnotic violin-laden instrumental for the title song, while singer Karthik's Thooriga struts on a genial synthpop bedrock that's punctuated by a pretty veena interlude. The acoustic strummer Alai Alaiyaaga and Adhirudha are enchanting harmonies, as is the shimmering melody Naanum. Yaadho, tuned by Govind Vasantha, is sonically immersive, with Chinmayi Sripada's voice shrouded in layers of strings and poignant arrangements. Justin Prabhakaran takes the traditional wedding song Kannunjal and gives it his own spin, blending a medley of thavil, violins, and konnakol that beautifully complements Carnatic music vocalist Sudha Ragunathan. Navarasa — an engaging multi-composer work that retains the oneness of sound.
